Anyone Can Do It

by Sahar and Bobby Hashemi

"Law 38: The quality of your implementation is what will set you apart from your competition."

Summary

This is an un-put-downable, step by step account of the brother and sister team's journey to establishing the first designer coffee shop chain in the UK, Coffee Republic.

The Best Bits

It lays bare the sheer effort involved in taking a good idea and turning it into a great business, and so crystallizes the oft repeated mantra that success in business is 1% good luck and 99% hard, focused, disciplined work. In so doing, it makes Sahar and Bobby Hashemi's success seem more replicable, more achievable by anyone - hence the title of the book. The detail with which they describe their journey fills the gaps that many stories of entrepreneurial success leave out - just exactly how, in a normal life, do you raise finance/write a business plan/find premises? This book sits on my bookshelf as a constant inspiration.

The Worst Bits

Nothing! In my view this is one of the best business autobiographies and "how to" books on the market.
